Becky Wilkerson shared K-2 Data: Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade Foundation Skills Reading Assessment Data Fall and Winter
*This assessment takes place twice a year and assesses Phoneme Segmenting, Word Reading Fluency, Letter Names, Letter Sounds in Kindergarten
*First grade assesses the same as kindergarten but also adds Passage Reading Fluency
*Second grade assesses Word Reading Fluency, Passage Reading Fluency, and MC Reading Comprehension
K-2 Middleburg Elementary data shows that the students are scoring at or slightly above or slightly below the district average. Areas that are slightly below will be analyzed and discussed with each grade level teacher.
Not all of the K-2 students in the state of Florida take this same assessment, but there are some districts who also implement this assessment. There are percentile rankings provided for administrators to analyze how MBE scored compared to other places within the state.
All 1st and 2nd grade students will take the SAT10 assessment toward the end of this school year.
Brandy Rodrigues provided every SAC member with an FSA March and April assessment calendar. The calendars were looked at and discussed. Computer based testing requires the schedule to allow each student to have access to a desktop computer.
Becky Wilkerson shared that the third and fourth graders had an FSA Pep Rally earlier this week. Students were encouraged to do their best and not to be nervous. The fifth and sixth grade Pep Rally will be coming soon.
Students in grades 3-6 get to vote on the following two choices if the school earns an "A" on this year's FSA: Mrs. Wilkerson will do the Ice Bucket Challenge or Students who score a 5 can spray Mrs. Wilkerson with their own can of Silly String
Jackie Lawson provided a copy of the Title 1 2015-2016 Parent Compact to each SAC member and discussed which verbiage on the Compact is required. SAC members were encouraged to think about any verbiage changes or additions to the Compact, and these will be discussed at a future SAC meeting.
Jackie Lawson explained that Reading Bingo night will be April 15, 2016 from 7-8 pm and Donuts for Dads will take place on May 17th and May 18th at 7:30 am to 8:15 am
We are always open to new parent involvement events. This year we added S'Mores and More Night which was very fun and well attended.
Brandy Rodrigues informed the SAC members about professional development training that the Math and Science teachers participated in earlier this year: Dr. Chew came to MBE and facilitated training which encompassed the MBE Science Lab. In addition, seven MBE math teachers are taking a rigorous, on-going training presented by INTEL. These teachers spent three days of the Spring Break at the INTEL training and will be attending several more training days throughout this school year and this summer.
Terri Brisson shared that the upcoming Clothing Drive is a fundraiser for our school. Donated clothing will be shipped and sorted and then sold on a website (information forthcoming). The school earns 40% of the profits earned.
